Today is our first day here...because of that, I am going to make an exception and explain our objectives in portuguese...but don't get excited, the next texts are going to be in english (with little explanations in portuguese)!
Já que é nosso primeiro post, vamos aproveitar a exceção para explicar, step by step, o que propomos aqui no Time Out to SHAPE UP:
Esse blog é mais um dos blogs criados pelo TIME OUT PROJECT 2011 e tem como principal público alvo os estudantes de inglês de nível básico. Sabemos das dificuldades e dos sustos desses primeiros passos na língua de Shakespeare e por isso vamos, com todo cuidado, explorar tópicos que sempre levantam dúvidas entre os alunos iniciantes. Através de vídeos, músicas e tirinhas em quadrinho, pretendemos transportá-los para fora da sala de aula, para o mundo das vivências e assim, desconstruir muros e bloqueios contra o inglês! Vamos ao nosso primeiro exercício, de volta ao inglês!
The first topic is for BASIC 1 students and it is about DESCRIPTIONS, look at the picture below:
I want you to create a description of this picture...To do it, remember some details:
1) Talk about the animal on the picture, talk about colors, use adjectives to qualify the animal.
2) Talk about the location, use adjectives to describe the place
This first exercise is simple, but it makes you think...the next one is more detailed, look at the picture:
Now, I want a good description, with details! Pay attention:
1) Talk about physical characteristics, if the person is tall, short, thin, fat, fit;
2) Talk about the color of the hair
3) Talk about the professional information of this person
4) Introduce this person to a friend, present the name, invent the age... Create a dialogue!!!
